I live in Pennngton, NJ and tons of folks in the area commute to NYC for work. I travel to NYC sometimes but am not a daily commuter. It always takes me way longer than the time my neighbors tell me that it takes them, even when I find a great parking spot, ride the express train and traffic is friendly.
Do most people lie about their commute time? Or, do they quote the quickest commute time they've ever had or drop one stage of the commute (drive time to train or from train to office)?
If they are telling a white lie - Why? Do people believe that the commute time is unjustifiable or that they look dumb for wasting all that time for a paycheck? Or, is the truth just too depressing to think about and admit - I spend over 13 hours a week commuting to work.
90 minutes from driveway to desk! (when train runs on-time!)
