A couple of days ago, the head coach of Texas Tech [a big-time Division 1 football school] banned his players from using Twitter. His actions stemmed from one of his players "tweeting" from the training room that his coach was late for a meeting.
Could anyone have guesses that coaches would be holding press conferences discussing social networking?
In this particular case, I agree with the coach. NO player should be Tweeting the "company" business!
While I think Social Networking is a communication medium that is clearly here to stay, I am somewhat puzzled with ways in which some people use Twitter..especially when it comes to celebrities!
Why would anyone care what Ashton Kucher had for breakfast? Or, what Serena Williams is watching on television? Are people that desperate to connect with someone they will NEVER know?
Seems a little creepy to me!
Just to be safe, I plan on banning Twitter for both my u-11 and u-13 girls soccer teams for the rest of the season!
