Signals

All of us are constantly sending signals to others that help them form an opinion. Many of these signals could never be anticipated by the sender.

One signal I receive is when I see people using AOL as their internet service provider. I immediately assume that this person is not technologically sophisticated, otherwise they would not be using the laggard dinosaur of the internet age. Fair, no. Helpful, no. Meaningful, no. Human, yes.
