I was stopped by a Pennington policeman recently for having an expired inspection sticker. My fault, it was well beyond expiration. The ticket was for $130.00 - you read that right. My car is in great shape - no headlights out, not missing the back bumper or anything.
In a small town like Pennington, why couldn't certain things be handled like Andy did in Mayberry? Couldn't the officer have said ... you need to come to the station within 48 hours with proof of a valid inspection or you are getting a ticket for $130.00. I'm pretty sure the goal of auto inspection is safety.
I am not trying to pass responsibility for my mistakes to someone else but small towns are made to feel like small intimate and special places because of the small, human gestures.
